Fleet Maintenance Supervisor

Fleet Maintenance Supervisor:

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees preventative maintenance and repairs for all our equipment. In collaboration with the Parts Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor promotes a proactive, efficient, and service-oriented program aimed at maintaining the St. Laurent fleet in peak operating condition.

They provide leadership and direction to a team of technicians, including direct supervision of technicians. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for replacement schedules, preventative maintenance, and repair of Company vehicles. The Maintenance Supervisor will work closely with the parts manager assisting with but not limited to, administrative duties, parts procurement, inventory management, asset tracking and cost control. The Maintenance Supervisor utilizes fleet management and onboard computing software to monitor vehicle performance and cost.


  • Oversee scheduling of all planned repair work to increase productivity and allocate resources appropriately among multiple trucks and equipment.
  • Execute an on-going preventative maintenance program, including identifying trends in road calls, breakdowns, and maintenance needs.
  • Provide direction and coaching to the Maintenance Team to ensure that all maintenance and repairs are performed in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Work with the President to assess staffing needs, training, etc.
  • Work with the parts manager to track cost and availability of parts.
  • Ensure compliance with Company safety standards, as well as federal and state regulations, including maintaining repair records and other required documentation.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic and electrical systems of heavy equipment and vehicles used by the Company, as well as staying up to date on changes to federal and state regulations.


  • 5+ years of technical experience working in a heavy equipment maintenance facility. Experience in the excavation industry preferred.
  • 2+ year experience as a supervisor or foreman/team lead.
  • Technical experience working with heavy equipment. Specifically, hydraulics like those found in Loaders, Excavators, Dump Trucks, etc. is a plus.
  • Must have experience with Electrical, Air Brakes, Medium and Heavy-Duty Diesel engines and computer aided diagnostics (CAT, Cummins, Detroit, Volvo, etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced experience working with fleet management programs.
  • Ability and passion for coaching, mentoring, and training employees.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT CMV rules, OSHA, and other federal and local regulations and requirement
  • Excellent safety record
  • Valid driver’s license required, CDL preferred.
  • Computer literacy and ability to learn internal software for parts/equipment tracking
  • Reports directly to the President and Vice President.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ 85,000.00 to $100,000.00 -per year

Normal work week.
