Heavy Equipment Mechanic

St. Laurent & Son is looking to hire an ambitious self-motivated heavy equipment mechanic.

Job Duties:

Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty construction equipment and vehicles.
Perform state inspections on a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
Accurately diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair broken vehicles and equipment, both in the shop and in the field.
Properly and accurately fill out work records and turn them in at the end of each day.
Communicate with the shop foreman throughout your work to help maintain a schedule.
On rare occasions a situation may occur where you will be required to help with a job in the field that doesn’t include mechanic work.


Job Requirements:

2 years prior experience as a heavy equipment mechanic.
Must be familiar with operations of vehicles and heavy equipment to help troubleshoot and repair them.
Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Knowledge in both diesel and gas engines.
Must have Maine State inspection sticker license or the ability to obtain one within one year from date of hire.
Must have your own tools.
Valid Maine driver’s license with a clean driving record. Commercial driver’s license is a plus but not required. Obtaining a class B or A license within one year from date of hire.
Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
Welding knowledge is a plus.
Basic computer skills, organization skills, and ability to prioritize and multitask. Fast pace, busy garage.
